Our partners at the Government Accountability Project will be in Louisiana and other Gulf coast states from August 10th - 16th to take statements from oil spill clean-up personnel (former or current, public or private-sector), and residents with health or safety concerns believed to be related to the BP Oil Spill.
We are encouraging all of our members with first hand information about the spill, conduct of BP, it's sub-contractors or otherwise to come forward at this time with health and safety related matters.
This is your opportunity to be part of the official record.

Re: BP Gulf Coast Investigation Announcement
About the Government Accountability Project: GAP is the nation's leading whistleblower protection and advocacy organization. Every year, we handle some of the most prominent whistleblower cases that emerge - representing clients who wish to expose wrongdoing that threatens the public. Our Know Your Rights Campaign is about raising public awareness of your rights so that Gulf workers and residents who want to speak out can do so safely and effectively.
Action: To take affidavits (statements of fact) from oil spill clean-up personnel (former or current, public or private-sector), and residents with health concerns believed to be related to chemical exposure, to document: occupational safety violations; public health and safety threats; subsequent health affects; retaliation that you have experienced for reporting workplace or citizen concerns.
When & Where: Statements will be taken between August 10th and August 16th, in LA, MS, and potentially other Gulf states. Please contact Shanna Devine, Investigator with the Government Accountability Project, to schedule a time to take your statement, or if you have any questions about this investigation.

Objective: The findings of this investigation will be used to document any workplace violations by BP and BP subcontractors that pose a substantial threat to public health and safety. It will further examine industry and government enforcement of whistleblower protections, within the context of the Gulf Coast oil spill cleanup.
Our organization traditionally uses investigations to: attract media coverage around the relevant abuses; reinforce or spark congressional action (including, but not limited to hearings, government investigations, and corrective action through legislation); ensure liability and corrective action by the responsible parties; support formal whistleblower disclosure(s) and/or retaliation claims.
Confidentiality Disclaimer: While we cannot provide an absolute guarantee, GAP will do everything in its power to protect your confidentiality to the extent allowed by law, and upon request, with the shield of the attorney-client privilege.
